This weekend we had the opportunity to get some help from Maria Barnardo. Maria is studying to become a Equine Physiotheraupist, I think that might be the English name for it. I hope someone will correct me if I m wrong.
Maria has finished the Saddle Fitting part of her education and she is a Certified Saddle Fitter. Now she is doing the training part for the Certified Equine Massage-exam. So, she massages different kind of horses. In this way, Infanta got the opportunity to feel her magic hands. She enjoyed it very much, and some places less. It was very nice to get a muscular picture from a professional. The things she found, confirmed my picture of our "problems".
Maria also looked at my new saddle. I let a Saddle Master fit it out on Infanta before I bought it, since I thought an expert should do it. I don't trust myself in these matters. The saddle was expensive too, so I wanted to be sure that it was worth the money. He said the saddle was a good fit on the horse and recommended me to buy it.
Lately some things about the saddle have bothered me. but I didn't get the picture until Maria looked at it. She found the saddle to be asymmetric and oblique.. Great.. NOT..
I contacted the seller, so now I have to send it back. I asked the Saddle Maker to look carefully at the saddle and he found the same faults as Maria. Infantas back didn't show any harm, probably because she is under upstart and has not been ridden vary hard yet. The faults at the saddle explains the lack of muscles in the back. Well, the saddle is to be sent back to the manufacturer.
Maria looked at the my other two saddles and thought that I can use them for a while. I hope a new, correct saddle will come quckly, I don't want to buy another saddle because of an manufacture error on my new saddle!
Well, we ended this session with Maria trying Infanta. I thought it would be nice to ride her after she has been feeling her muscular state. I think they liked each other!
